Inside 蜜桃视频

Headshot of Dr. Katrina Samson

Principal’s Message

Dr. Katrina Samson

Over the past year, I鈥檝e had the opportunity to travel and reconnect with 蜜桃视频 Old Girls/Alums across the globe. No matter where our alumnae are living or the industries they work in, I鈥檝e been struck by a common thread: a desire to make a difference.

I鈥檝e met women in fashion who are challenging taboos around periods and designing clothing that reflects the true diversity of women鈥檚 bodies. Others are leading in technology, creating tools to combat disinformation and build trust in an increasingly complex digital world. Some are reshaping financial services, developing companies and apps that empower people to take control of their investments and futures. I鈥檝e also connected with alumnae advancing environmental sustainability, championing animal welfare and breaking barriers in fields once considered off-limits to women, including sports broadcasting and management.

What stands out is not only their success, but also the way they connect their work to a larger sense of purpose. Again and again, I hear how the confidence and values nurtured at 蜜桃视频 鈥 integrity, inquiry, compassion and courage 鈥 have helped shape their paths and inspired them to lead with impact.

As we celebrate the Class of 2026 and all of our students, I鈥檓 reminded that difference-making at 蜜桃视频 does not begin after graduation. Our students are already learning to lead, contribute and create change in meaningful ways every day. By encouraging them to think critically, act compassionately and engage courageously with the world around them, we are preparing future-ready graduates who are already making a difference.

This is our final Inside 蜜桃视频 for the 2025-26 school year. On behalf of the team here at HC, I wish you and yours the very best this summer. To our graduates and their graduating families, we share our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation.

Message from the 蜜桃视频 Board of Governors

Jill Fraser 1987, Chair of the Board

As we approach the conclusion of another remarkable year, I find myself reflecting on the vibrant energy that defines the 蜜桃视频 experience. On behalf of the Board of Governors, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Katrina Samson, the Senior Leadership Team, our dedicated faculty and staff and our entire community for your unwavering commitment to 蜜桃视频鈥檚 mission.

One of the highlights of the Board鈥檚 spring season was the April Board Meeting, where we were joined by student leaders Naomi McDonald (School Captain), Jana Kalbasi (Wellbeing Prefect), Isabella Tubbe (Sports Prefect) and Sola Akinbola (MS Prefect). Hearing them speak about mentorship, risk-taking and their efforts to bridge connections with younger students was truly inspiring. They have cultivated a culture of belonging and school spirit that will leave a lasting impact. Thank you to the entire student leadership team for your vision and heart.

This season of transition is a personal one for me as well. This is my final message to you as Board Chair, as I prepare to transition to the role of Past Chair in September. It has been an incredible honour to serve this community as Chair over the last three years and as a Board Governor since 2018. The warmth and dedication of our students, families, faculty and staff have made this journey profoundly rewarding.

I am thrilled that Kate Horton (Class of 1994) will be assuming the role of Board Chair. Her leadership will focus on our long-term strategic oversight and our continued commitment to Inclusive Excellence. You can learn more about Kate Horton in a message from Michael Copeland below. Please join me in welcoming her with the same ivy spirit you have shown me.

To the Class of 2025: as you prepare to walk past the ivy and into your next chapter, remember that you carry the strength of the community behind you. Be bold, stay inquisitive and continue to lead with the integrity and passion you鈥檝e shown here. We are so proud of the difference you are already making in the world.

For those looking to give back to the 蜜桃视频 legacy, please contact Kate Crokam, Executive Director of Advancement, to learn how your participation fuels the success of our students.

With deep gratitude and 蜜桃视频 pride,

Jill Fraser

Introducing the New Chair of the Board of Governors, Kate Horton

Michael Copeland, Chair of Governance, 蜜桃视频 Board of Governors

We are very pleased to announce that Kate Horton (Class of 1994) will be appointed as the new Chair of the Board of Governors this September, following the Annual General Meeting. Kate is an alumna and current parent, and is the President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Canada where she oversees the funding and enablement of 37 program locations nationwide. She is known for her ability to navigate diverse business landscapes 鈥 from the corporate world to community-based nonprofits 鈥 to achieve a shared vision and measurable results. Her extensive experience and deep connection to the school will be invaluable as she guides 蜜桃视频鈥檚 long-term vision and success.

We also share our deepest gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Jill Fraser (Class of 1987). During her tenure, Jill was instrumental in launching the strategic plan, laying the groundwork for a substantial expansion of our outdoor athletic and play facilities, including the new Junior School playscape, refurbished tennis courts, lower pitch revitalization and preparations for our new turf field and seasonal dome. Jill has left a lasting impact on our community through her dedication to advancing girls鈥 education and athletics. To ensure a seamless leadership transition and maintain governance continuity, Jill will serve as Past Chair for the coming year, providing strategic support to Kate in her new role.

Please join me in expressing our appreciation to Jill and welcoming Kate in her new capacity.

Celebrating the Incredible Successes of Our Grads

Heather Johnstone, Director of Guidance, Academic and University Counselling

As we wrap up another exceptional year in the 蜜桃视频 Guidance Department, I want to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable successes of this year鈥檚 graduating class as we highlight the emerging and continuing admission trends we are observing.

Canadian University Admissions: On the Canadian front, our graduates have secured offers to some of the most selective programs across the country, spanning a multitude of disciplines from engineering, health sciences, nursing, business and kinesiology. Acceptance rates for several of these programs hovered below 3%, making securing a spot more competitive than gaining admission to top-tier U.S. institutions.

International Admissions: 蜜桃视频 graduates also continue to thrive on the international stage. Our students maintained a strong U.S. presence, earning offers from nearly every Ivy League institution and numerous Top 20 universities, including several recognized on Forbes鈥 “New Ivies” list. Furthermore, direct-entry programs in the U.K. and Ireland remain highly attractive for students pursuing professional pathways; this year, we are proud to have graduates matriculating directly into medicine and veterinary medicine.

University Relations & Outreach: To support these ambitions, the Guidance Department continues to cultivate deep relationships with admissions offices globally. This year, we again hosted our annual Canadian and International University Fairs, alongside more than 55 lunchtime and after-school information sessions, providing our students with invaluable direct access to university information and admissions officers.

Innovative Tools for Evolving Trends: As highly selective programs increasingly incorporate video interviews into their evaluation processes, we were thrilled to pilot a new AI-driven practice platform for our Grade 12 students this year. Developed by a private partner, this tool allows students to conduct virtual practice interviews and receive tailored feedback based on actual university rubrics. Our graduates embraced this resource wholeheartedly, utilizing the platform more than any other pilot school. Looking ahead to next year, we are excited to report the expansion of this tool to include practice modules for medical school Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) and U.S. optional video submissions.

Our Guidance Team is consistently inspired by the outstanding accomplishments of our graduating class and remains deeply committed to guiding them through the ever-evolving admissions landscape. Our group of skilled, knowledgeable professionals is dedicated to continuous growth and adaptation. Ultimately, it is a true privilege to share this journey with our graduates.

Thanking Our HCPA Difference Makers

On behalf of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 leadership team, faculty and staff, we extend our deepest gratitude to the 蜜桃视频 Parents Association (HCPA) for their dedication to the school. This month, as we celebrate our graduates, we recognize that our parent volunteers are important role models as difference makers for our students. Through your service, you embody the compassion, courage and adaptability that we hope our graduates carry on throughout their lives.

Your impact is felt across every hallway of the school. We especially want to highlight the vibrant energy brought to the Junior School this year 鈥 from the JS A-mazing Race, where parent volunteers fostered sportsmanship, to the Grade Breakfasts that sparked creative connections. Equally vital is the support felt in the Upper School, where your dedication fuels the spirit of our community! Whether sorting pre-loved uniforms to champion sustainability, organizing the Gator Gala or running concession stands at Friday Night Lights, you prove that being a “Difference Maker” is about tenacity and heart.

From the HCPA鈥檚 Executive Team to our event volunteers, you are the heartbeat of this community. Thank you for showing our students that true leadership is found in the joy of giving back.

For those new to HC, the HCPA serves as the heartbeat of parent involvement, and this year-end meeting is our way of celebrating the volunteers and parents who make our school life so vibrant.

The morning was filled with gratitude, featuring heartfelt thanks from school leadership: Deputy Principal Lindsay Norberg, Head of the Junior School Kate White, Head of the Upper School Krista Koekkoek, Head of Senior School Deirdre Timusk and Head of Middle School Cissy Goodridge. It was also an exciting moment of transition as we officially introduced the new HCPA members for the 2026鈥27 school year, ensuring our tradition of partnership continues.

Beyond the formal acknowledgments, parents enjoyed a delicious spread and a spirited game of Kahoot to test their knowledge! The laughter and energy in the room were a fitting end to a fantastic year.

HCPA Faculty & Staff Appreciation Ivy Pub

Today, the 蜜桃视频 campus transforms into a vibrant Olympic Village for our annual HCPA Faculty & Staff Appreciation Ivy Pub! For families new to the HC, this event is a cherished tradition where parents host a themed social to give back to the dedicated teachers and staff who support our students all year long. This year, we are celebrating the “gold medal” efforts of the entire 蜜桃视频 team with a spirited, Olympic-inspired afternoon.

From 3:30 to 5:30 pm, faculty and staff will step away from their desks to enjoy an afternoon of relaxation and friendly competition in the Temerty Commons (or outdoors, weather permitting). The celebration features “Olympic Village” favourites like Spikeball, giant Connect Four and races, alongside a celebratory photo booth and upbeat music. A true highlight of the menu is the wonderful tradition of handmade dumplings prepared and provided by our parent community. These are served alongside a delicious spread catered by Chartwells and exciting raffle prizes 鈥 all made possible by the generous contributions parents made to the HCPA earlier this school year.

We want to extend a massive thank you to our Staff Appreciation Co-Chairs, Rebecca Fu and Ashmina Damani, and HCPA Treasurer, Colleen Sun. Their creative vision and careful planning have ensured this event is a success!

The Ivy Runs Deep

Naomi McDonald, School Captain 2025鈥26

The friendships at HC are beyond what I鈥檝e ever imagined. From rolling my suitcase to the frontsteps, heart pounding, to realizing that the most beautiful part about HC is on the inside, there鈥檚 no place I鈥檇 rather be.

When we wanted to give up, take a shortcut or crash-out, our teachers always rooted for us. Whether through watching comedic musical chairs from the bleachers, cheering as students beat staff in every sport 馃槈 or coaching or laughing in the classroom, our teachers are our heroes.

Living inside these walls have been pivotal to my experience. Seeing the younger Boarding students grow every single day, having the funniest debates at dinner, super competitive Spirit Nights, or knocking on a friend’s door for the millionth time is magical.

Whether fostering a big-sister, little-sister relationship with the JS students at PlayPals while having a stampede of kids chase you, or teaching 3D printing to MS students (but in the end learning from them just as much as you taught them), there is no place like 蜜桃视频. There is no place like home.

Grads: where did the time go? Remember when we all tried to sneak a glimpse into the Grad Common Room or when we first tried on the Grad hoodies and wondered if they would ever look right on us? This has truly been our year taking Hewie home at Hockey Day, going all out in spirit as we won our first Friday Night Lights, having a successful first Koerner Hall Music Night and learning from all the experiences in between. A core memory was singing Rise-Up with our arms around each other during the student leadership retreat. Since that moment, all of our differences were cast aside.

Here at 蜜桃视频, the ivy truly runs deep. Thank you, HC, for moulding me into who I am today.

Your homie,

Naomi

Headshot of Laura Sims

Message from the Chief Operating Officer

Laura Sims

Some of the most powerful learning for students at 蜜桃视频 happens in our beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campus, situated on 22 acres, is a living laboratory 鈥 a sanctuary that functions as an essential extension of our formal classrooms. Our many exceptional outdoor spaces include 蜜桃视频鈥檚 recently refurbished tennis courts, three sports fields, the Lisa Hardie Trail, playscapes and outdoor quads. These spaces provide a stunning backdrop for our students to learn and reflect outside.

However, the beauty of these grounds does not happen by accident. It is the result of constant, dedicated effort from our Facilities and Grounds Teams, who are the silent partners in the student experience. These teams work tirelessly through the varying demands of our seasons 鈥 from strategic snow removal in the depth of winter to the complex management of our vast gardens filled with annuals, perennials and indigenous trees in the spring and summer. They navigate logistical challenges behind the scenes to ensure that when a student walks between buildings or hits the turf for a game, the space is safe, functional and aesthetically inspiring.

The academic year culminates with a Graduation ceremony for our Grade 12 students, a time when our grounds are on full display for students, parents, families, faculty and staff to enjoy in their full splendour. I am deeply grateful to the Grounds and Facilities Teams for their unwavering dedication and stewardship of our property. Their hard work ensures that 蜜桃视频 remains a place of inspiration to be enjoyed now and for many generations of our community to come.

Message from the Board of Governors

Rob Brown, Chair of The 蜜桃视频 Foundation Board of Directors

Established in 1966, the 蜜桃视频 Foundation is a registered charity that both receives and invests donations to support key priorities for 蜜桃视频. The Foundation oversees an investment portfolio of mostly donor-endowed funds, valued at $39.3 million as of June 30, 2025. These endowed funds have been gifted over time by parents, Old Girls/Alums, graduating classes, faculty and staff. The Foundation disburses a certain percentage of the value of the endowed funds annually to the school.

To support the College鈥檚 long-term mission, the Foundation works with expert investment managers to balance capital growth with wealth preservation. This disciplined approach provides reliable funding for essential needs like student scholarships, campus projects and enriched student experiences.

The Foundation is governed by a board of eight Directors, including ex-officio appointments of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Board of Governors and a member of the 蜜桃视频 Old Girls Association.

Since annual revenues must fund both daily operations and long-term infrastructure, fundraising is vital to 蜜桃视频鈥檚 financial resilience. We are deeply grateful to our past, present and future donors for their generosity and steadfast commitment to our missions. Cultivating Curiosity On Our Living Campus through Outdoor Education

Katie Tranter and Lydia Abebe, Grade 1 Teachers

At 蜜桃视频, our 22-acre campus is not just a backdrop; it is a living classroom. For our Grade 1 students, stepping outside means stepping into curiosity.

Our outdoor learning weaves seamlessly across the curriculum. Through Drama, students embody the natural world around them, giving voice to trees, insects and the shifting seasons. In Science, we investigate the magic of photosynthesis and explore how pigments change and reflect as autumn arrives. We ask big questions: Why do leaves turn? What is the tree “telling” us?

At the heart of it all is our Grade 1 tree, a constant companion we visit each season, noticing and recording its changes over time. These regular observations nurture patience, wonder and a genuine relationship with the living world.

Nature walks and open conversations remind students that nature is not separate from us; it sustains us. We discuss what we love about the outdoors and how we can be thoughtful stewards of the land we are so fortunate to call our school grounds.

Outdoor education is not an add-on. It is where science, creativity and character quietly take root.

Unleashing Potential On Our Spring Playing Fields

Carla Di Filippo, Upper School Athletics Director, and Anna Bartlett, Junior School Athletic Director

There is an unmistakable energy that returns to 蜜桃视频 each spring. The scent of freshly cut grass, the sun rising over Ratcliffe Field and the tennis courts, and the light streaming through the pool windows all signal the return of a vibrant outdoor spring season. Across our vast campus, including three sports fields, six tennis courts and the Lisa Hardie Trail, students take full advantage of these outdoor spaces.

These facilities support a wide range of competitive programs 鈥 including tennis, softball, soccer, rugby and ultimate 鈥 in both the Junior and Upper Schools. There are also clubs focused on triathlon training and the learn-to-golf program. The accessibility of these spaces allows for efficient scheduling, minimizing time away from class while maximizing training and competition opportunities.

Beyond the scores and statistics, our campus serves as the heart of our community. Each afternoon, the fields come alive with the sound of hundreds of students training and competing. It is a place where families and friends gather for home games and where students find inspiration in one another’s grit and sportsmanship. This spring, as we celebrate our athletes’ achievements, we also celebrate the world-class campus that makes their success possible.

蜜桃视频's beehive.

Lessons From Our Campus Bees

Fatima Kaba, Interim Director of the Forum for Change

Three years ago, HC introduced beehives to our campus as part of a commitment to experiential learning and environmental stewardship. What began as an exciting addition to our outdoor spaces has grown into a meaningful program that enriches student learning while contributing positively to our broader community.

The presence of bees on campus offers unique educational advantages. Students are able to engage directly with concepts such as biodiversity, sustainability and food systems in a tangible and memorable way. Observing a hive in action brings learning beyond the classroom, helping students better understand the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the essential role pollinators play in our world.

Our partnership with has been instrumental in deepening this experience. Their team has led a range of engaging workshops that provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore the life cycle of bees, understand the distinct roles within the hive and follow the journey from hive to honey jar. These sessions often include honey tastings, allowing students to connect their learning to real, sensory experiences.

In addition, 础濒惫茅辞濒别 has supported our , helping students make meaningful connections between their developing understanding of the and real-world local environmental systems. During TC-9, students were introduced to our beekeeper and urban beekeeping locations around the school, which allowed them to see and learn about the interdependent relationship between humans and honey bees on campus. These workshops and interactions highlighted the importance of an on campus learning experience that models our sustainability work and the relationships between 蜜桃视频 and our partners.

Another notable impact has been the shift in student comfort levels around bees. For many, initial hesitation or fear has gradually been replaced by curiosity and respect. Through knowledge and guided experiences, students have developed a greater sense of ease and appreciation for these essential pollinators.

Ultimately, our beehives represent more than just an environmental initiative. They are a dynamic learning tool that fosters curiosity, builds confidence and encourages students to think critically about their role in sustaining the natural world.

HCPA Staff & Faculty Appreciation Ivy Pub

The HCPA is hard at work preparing for one of our community鈥檚 most meaningful annual highlights: the HCPA Faculty & Staff Appreciation Ivy Pub. Taking place on Tuesday, May 26 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm in the Temerty Commons, this celebration serves as a special moment for parents to give back to faculty and staff members who dedicate themselves so fully to our students.

Under the leadership of HCPA Staff Appreciation Co-Chairs, Rebecca Fu and Ashmina Damani, and the HCPA Treasurer, Colleen Sun, this year鈥檚 Ivy Pub adopts a light Olympic-inspired theme to celebrate the “gold medal” efforts of our faculty and staff. The HCPA has curated a relaxing afternoon featuring nostalgic drop-in activities, upbeat music and a celebratory photo booth. These festivities, including the refreshments and raffle prizes, are made possible by the generous donations parents contributed to the HCPA earlier this year.

We look forward to a wonderful afternoon honouring those who make 蜜桃视频 such a remarkable place to learn and grow!

Inside Focus

The stone at the front of the Upper School the says "Anno Domini 1926"

Founders鈥 Day: A Century of Heritage

Founders鈥 Day is the annual celebration of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 history, held at St. Paul鈥檚 Bloor Street on the school day closest to April 23. This year marks a historic double milestone: the 100th anniversary of the laying of our building鈥檚 foundation stone in 1926 and the 50th anniversary of the Founders鈥 Day service itself.

Established in 1976 by our Sixth Principal, Mary Dennys, the service was designed to help each generation of 蜜桃视频ians maintain the spirit and vision upon which the school has flourished since 1894. Miss Dennys believed that by looking back, we could better forge a path forward while maintaining the essence of the school.

The inaugural service in 1976 brought the entire community together in the school鈥檚 Assembly Hall. This tradition continues with all students from Grades 1 to 12 attending, along with staff and faculty. As the community grew, the service moved to St. Paul鈥檚 Bloor Street, a church with which 蜜桃视频 has shared a deep connection since 1899. A plaque dedicated to our first Principal, Ellen Knox, remains in the church鈥檚 east transept today as a testament to this enduring bond. We also hold Carol Service in this beautiful sanctuary in our city.

The service remains a sensory experience of our shared legacy. It features choral performances by our Junior and Upper School Choirs, a keynote address by a Grad and either a staff member or an Old Girl/Alum that bridges our past and present, and the invitation for everyone in attendance to sing the school song (鈥淰itai Lampada Tradens鈥) and hymn (鈥淯nto the Hills鈥) together.

Founders鈥 Day is more than a retrospective; it is the heartbeat of our present. As we celebrate these 100-year and 50-year milestones, we don鈥檛 just honour where we鈥檝e been 鈥 we ignite the spirit that will carry 蜜桃视频 forward for the next century.

There are few people who have lived through more at 蜜桃视频 than Vince Alexander. Joining the Facilities department in 2001, Mr. Alexander has been an integral part of the many changes and improvements made to the 蜜桃视频 campus. From new buildings to small repairs, and everything in between, he has helped shape the 蜜桃视频 we all know and love today.

In his role as Manager Building Services, Mr. Alexander directly leads a portion of the Facilities Team to ensure the school鈥檚 building systems and equipment are operating as they should. After the halls empty out for March Break and the summer holiday, Mr. Alexander and the team are diligently working through as many projects and maintenance requests as possible.

Whether it’s HVAC, door locks or any interior/exterior challenges, chances are Mr. Alexander will be tasked with seeing it through.

You can also find him enjoying all the 蜜桃视频 events, including Hockey Day, Celebration Day and various cultural Prayers. He’s also an active member of the Staff Choir and the Staff Christmas Band (he plays the tuba). Message from the Upper School Athletics Director

Ms. Carla Di Filippo

Hello Gators,

As the frost begins to melt and we look toward the spring, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible grit and determination shown by our student-athletes this winter. Every time a Gator stepped onto the court, the ice, the pool or the trails, they did so with a level of effort and pride that defines the 蜜桃视频 spirit.

On the courts, our Badminton Teams were dominant with an impressive three teams (U13, U14 and U20) clinching CISAA gold! Our Volleyball Program also set a high bar for excellence, earning three hard-fought silver medals. Perhaps one of the most emotional highlights of the season took place on the ice. For the first time in four years, our Varsity Hockey Team emerged victorious on Hockey Day, reclaiming the Hewitt Cup in a thrilling performance. The team鈥檚 momentum didn鈥檛 stop there; they carried that energy all the way to OFSAA, where they secured an impressive 9th place finish (after being ranked 20th) in the province.

Whether you stood on a podium or hit a personal best, we are so incredibly proud of every single athlete. Thank you for representing the green and gold with such heart! We are incredibly proud of the way our athletes embraced challenges, supported one another and continued to grow throughout the season. From early morning practices to high-pressure games, their dedication never wavered.

After the March Break, we celebrated our winter teams during our Athletics Assembly, where we presented the MVP and Coaches Awards for all teams. . Congratulations to all athletes on a fun and exciting winter term of sports!

I look forward to some sunshine this spring season!

Roll Gators!

Message from the Junior School Athletic Director

Ms. Anna Bartlett

Through the heart of winter, Junior School students demonstrated grit, determination and commitment as intramurals, squads and teams pushed forward in full force.

Our Volleyball Program soared again, with 13 teams and 89 athletes from Grades 4 to 6 competing this season. Every rally reflected resilience and drive, maintaining the highest participation in the CISAA and reinforcing a culture of perseverance.

In the pool, our swimmers rose to the challenge at the championships. The U12 Swim Team delivered strong performances, achieving personal bests through focus, discipline and hard work.

On the ice, the U12 Hockey Team embraced the spotlight on Hockey Day in front of more than 1,500 spectators. A season highlight was a hard-fought 5 to 5 tie against Royal St. George鈥檚, battling back in the final three minutes 鈥 an effort defined by heart and composure.

In the gym, intramurals continue to energize our athletes in Grades 1 to 6. Led by dedicated Grade 6 leaders, these sessions helped build skills, leadership and school spirit.

Looking ahead, momentum continues into spring. Softball interest remains strong, while U12 Ultimate will again partner with Crescent School in a co-ed format. Track and Field athletes are preparing to compete, and Multisport and Basketball/Soccer Programs continue to engage our younger students.

Across every court, field, rink and pool, our athletes show what it means to commit, persevere and grow.

Go Gators!

A Message from the Student Editor

Catherine T.

Hey Gators! I can鈥檛 believe we’re already through the winter season and heading toward the spring season. I want to take a moment and celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our 蜜桃视频 Gators as well as our Canadian Olympic athletes who participated in the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

This edition will be covering the amazing accomplishments of our Gators as well as the accomplishments of our fellow Canadian athletes. Even in the dark gloom of tests and assignments, as well as the weather, I find that every winter season, the school spirit comes alive. A huge congratulations to our Varsity Hockey Team and their long-awaited win over Bishop Strachan School for the Hewitt Cup at Hockey Day. I want to give huge props to the Captain, Izzy Tubbe, Assistant Captains, Sophia Liu and Emma Oliver, as well as to our amazing coaches for this incredible game.

While all of our teams have had such amazing accomplishments, it’s the determination, the perseverance and the joy that our athletes can foster that is the true meaning of sport. Even in the scary moments when the clock is ticking and every single play is important to the success of the team, it’s the sportsmanship of our Gators that shines through every time.

I would like to dedicate this edition of Gator Zone to all of our incredible writers who were also participants in the Nordic ski trip, the Badminton Team, the Volleyball Team and more. I would like to share my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has worked on this edition. The publication would not have been possible without the tireless effort of Ms. Di Filippo, Ms. Pink, Ms. Bartlett, the Sports Prefects and our talented writers for their contributions.

I am so excited to see what our Gators achieve during the upcoming spring season. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the second edition of Gator Zone 2025-26!

Catherine

Message from the Sports Prefects

Izzy and Emma

The snow might have been falling, but our HC teams were heating up this winter season! Hey Gators, as we wrap up an incredible winter athletic term, we want to recognize the outstanding achievements our school has accomplished over the past few months. The determination our athletes showed in every practice and competition was unmatched, and the energy from our supporters made every game even more memorable.

A huge highlight of this term was reclaiming Hockey Day after three long years. In a hard-fought and intense battle against BSS, our team came out on top with an exciting 4 to 3 victory. The atmosphere was electric and the pride across our community was undeniable. Another meaningful event this season was Hockey for Health, where we hosted a student panel focused on mental health in sport. It was an impactful conversation that highlighted the importance of supporting one another both on and off the ice.

Many teams went above and beyond this season. Congratulations to our swimmers who competed at OFSAA and represented 蜜桃视频 with incredible effort and pride. Our Middle School Swim Team also delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home CISAA gold. Badminton had an exceptional season, with three out of our four teams winning CISAA finals titles. Our curlers and D1B Hockey Team both earned CISAA bronze medals, showcasing their hard work and resilience throughout the season.

Our D1A Hockey Team made history by advancing to OFSAA in Windsor for the first time. Ranked 20th going into the tournament, they defied expectations by defeating the first-place team, proving their determination and competitive spirit on a huge stage. Our volleyball teams also had an incredibly strong showing this season, bringing home two CISAA silver medals and two bronze medals, highlighting the depth of talent across the program.

Finally, we want to congratulate and thank every athlete who tried out for or participated in a winter sports team. Being part of a 蜜桃视频 team is truly something special. The friendships, memories and lessons you gain last far beyond the season. Let鈥檚 carry this momentum into the spring term. We can鈥檛 wait to see what you accomplish next.

Go Gators!

Your Sports Prefects,

Izzy and Emma

Before the Buzzer: How Our Championship Season Was Built

Eudora Zhang

Hi everyone! My name is Eudora and I鈥檓 a member of the U13 D1 Basketball Team. This year, our team won the CAIS Basketball Championships 鈥 but our story started long before the final buzzer.

It began early on Friday mornings. While most students were still sleeping, our team was already in the gym, practising offensive transitions and lockdown defence. Those quiet mornings were challenging, but they taught us discipline, focus and how to trust each other under pressure 鈥 lessons that became the foundation of our season.

This year鈥檚 CAIS tournament was hosted at 蜜桃视频, with teams travelling from across Canada to compete. We entered the competition confident and prepared, winning our early games and growing stronger with each one.

The semi-final against BSS was intense and close from start to finish. Every possession mattered, and staying calm made the difference as we secured a 47鈥42 win. Heading into the final against Collingwood School from British Columbia, we felt both nervous and excited. We started strong with aggressive defence and, in the third quarter, everything clicked. When the final buzzer sounded, we knew all the early mornings had been worth it.

Winning the CAIS championship was unforgettable 鈥 especially because it completed an undefeated season. I鈥檓 incredibly proud to represent 蜜桃视频 and grateful for my teammates鈥 resilience and support. Thank you to our coaches, Ms. Kaba and Coach Patrick, for pushing us every step of the way. This season showed us what can happen when preparation, hard work and belief come together.

Nordic Overnight Trip

Callie Slightham and Ainsley Nichols

Nordic skiing is the perfect way to push yourself while also having fun with your friends outside, but, at 蜜桃视频, it is pretty underground. We first tried Nordic last year and had a blast, especially on the overnight trip to Nordic Highlands in Collingwood. This year, wishing we had known about it earlier, we made sure to spread the word about how amazing this team is. For the overnight trip, we went with around 40 people from Grades 9 to 12. We all went up by bus and, upon arrival at the lodge, lessons were offered for beginners, but Nordic skiing is relatively easy to take up, so most of us just enjoyed the free ski time. Although we could have come inside at any time, everyone skied the whole afternoon. There are so many paths to take, suitable for everyone at any level, so it鈥檚 impossible to get bored. We developed a great love for the red loop, with its many steep ups and downs. Even though there were some falls, that鈥檚 what makes it so fun. These difficult yet rewarding three hours of skiing are followed by a team dinner at a restaurant and a comfortable stay at a local hotel to rest up for another day of skiing!

蜜桃视频 Hockey Reflection from Two Rookies

Margo Phillips and Lucy Falconer

As Grade 9 rookies, being part of the D1 Varsity 蜜桃视频 Hockey Team has been one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. At the start of the season, we were both a little nervous trying out for a team with older players, but the graduating players made us feel welcome right away. They created a positive, fun environment where everyone felt included and part of something special. Whether it was in the dressing room, on the bus or during practices, they made every moment something we looked forward to and will always remember.

Winning Hockey Day was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our season. The support from the 蜜桃视频 community was incredible with friends, teachers and the Junior School all celebrating together, which made the moment even more meaningful. It felt like everything we had worked for as a team came together. The opportunity to showcase our sport in front of so many people we care about is both an honour and a privilege.

Qualifying for OFSAA, the provincial championship, was the icing on the cake. Beyond the games, it was the time spent together 鈥 laughing, talking and building friendships 鈥 that made this season so special. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a supportive team and school community, and this is something we will never forget. Thank you 蜜桃视频 hockey for such an unforgettable season!

2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics: Canadian Spotlight

Isabel Snare

蜜桃视频 students, faculty and staff tuned into the 2026 Olympic Games both inside and outside of the ivy walls this winter, cheering on Canadian athletes across a wide range of events.

Canada sent one of its largest teams in history to the Winter Games this year 鈥 205 athletes across 14 sports 鈥 and placed 11th in overall medal standings, with a total of 21 medals earned.

Canada鈥檚 first gold medal of the Games was won in the dual mogul event by Mika毛l Kingsbury, after the country had previously gone several days without earning gold. This win initiated a slew of other gold medal achievements, including in men鈥檚 curling, women鈥檚 big air and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 speed-skating, amounting to five total.

Canada also secured seven silver medals and nine bronze medals, with the most notable of these being the silver medals awarded to the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 hockey teams. Both gold medal games ended in dramatic overtime losses to the USA, but nonetheless the talent and sportsmanship displayed by the Canadian players was recognized globally. At 蜜桃视频, the women鈥檚 historical faceoff was celebrated with a red and white dress down day and the game was projected in classrooms and other spaces across campus.

Ultimately, Canada put up a strong effort this year at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina, with several athletes receiving multiple medals. 蜜桃视频 is proud to be inspired by the athletes who represented our country, especially by the strong and courageous women who serve as inspirations to us all. Special shoutout to 蜜桃视频 Old Girl/Alum Ali Nullmeyer (Class of 2016), who competed in alpine skiing and finished 16th in the women鈥檚 slalom event!

Badminton coach Sam S.

Coach Spotlight: Sam Sui 鈥 U16 Badminton Coach

Kyra Daley

Coach Sam Sui started coaching the HC U16 Badminton team during the 2025-26 season. Sam is a recent Crescent School graduate and is currently attending U of T, where he plays badminton. He has played in numerous Badminton Ontario tournaments, most recently earning a silver medal in the Provincial A Championship. He shared that his go-to song before teaching or coaching heavily depends on how he鈥檚 feeling. While his music taste ranges from Japanese music to 21 savage, he comes back to one playlist when working out or prepping for matches. When he鈥檚 not on the badminton court, his favourite way to be active is playing any racket sport or volleyball, or going to the gym. Something he was looking forward to during the winter season was for his players to develop a genuine interest and passion for the sport of badminton. Furthermore, to enjoy the spirit of improvement and competition while understanding that results are secondary to maintaining a continued interest in the sport.

While Sam is being a role model for his players, two of his role models are Lin Dan, because he has such an incredible physical ability that Sam strives to obtain. The second is Kevin Cordon,聽the Olympic 4th place from Tokyo 2020. Cordon is from Guatemala and beat all the dominant Asian countries on the grandes world stage at 34 years old. He comes from a tiny country with no support for badminton and no resources to compete, and his story is really inspirational about how someone can succeed despite the odds being stacked against him. Finally, we asked Sam about what he was enjoying being a coach at HC to which he replied with the incredible school culture, how kind the staff and teachers are and how everyone really tries to help one another improve. We are proud to have Sam here to share in our spirit and we can鈥檛 wait to see what he does next.

The Power of Connection: Learning Through the Forum for Change

Some of the most powerful learning at 蜜桃视频 happens when our students step beyond the classroom and into relationships with new perspectives, communities and ways of understanding the world.

This month, we see that learning come to life. Our Grade 10 students are returning from Exchange in South Africa, France, Argentina and Australia, while our Grade 8 students have returned from England and Scotland. While on Exchange, they travelled independently, built new relationships and navigated unfamiliar cultures. For some, this is captured in photos and stories of new friendships and places explored. For others, the growth is quieter: learning to overcome challenges, ask for help and find confidence in unfamiliar environments.

At the same time, closer to home, our Grade 5 students have led the Junior School in creating hygiene kits for New Circles, one of our community partners. Through education, advocacy and action, they have deepened their understanding of dignity, self-care and community responsibility before delivering the kits and learning directly from those they are supporting.

Looking ahead, the Forum for Change is planning for the 2026鈥27 school year. Students will travel to Sydney and Banff as delegates. Athletic teams will compete and train nationally and internationally. A group will travel to Paris to explore language and culture, while others will journey to the Yukon and China to deepen their understanding of place, identity and global perspectives.

Through the , these experiences are not isolated 鈥 they are intentional. Students are invited not only to explore the world, but also to engage with it. They learn to listen deeply, adapt to new environments and build trust across differences. In doing so, they develop cultural competency, problem-solving skills and a strong sense of agency. More importantly, they build relational intelligence 鈥 the ability to connect, communicate and collaborate with empathy and purpose.

Grounded in 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Global Competencies (Globally Minded, Inspired to Action, Innovative Intelligence, Leaning into Empathy, Flexibility & Adaptability, Leading with Integrity), this work challenges students to understand the world, appreciate diverse perspectives, communicate with humility and take ethical action.

This is the work of the Forum for Change and it is essential to prepare students not just to succeed in the world, but also to shape it with empathy, integrity and purpose.

Message from the Board of Governors

Obaid Afzal, Chair of the Financial Sustainability Committee

The Financial Sustainability Committee, reporting to the Board of Governors, is responsible for safeguarding the long-term financial health of 蜜桃视频. As Chair, I am privileged to work alongside a committed group of volunteer governors, together with 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Chief Operations Officer, Laura Sims, and Executive Director of Finance, Johann McCormack.

Our committee comprises a diverse mix of current and former parents, as well as senior leaders in the community. By assembling a team with varied professional backgrounds and deep financial expertise, we make certain that the school鈥檚 financial decisions are informed by a wide range of perspectives and robust insights.

To ensure financial planning aligns with 蜜桃视频鈥檚 long-term strategic priorities, the committee works closely with the Property and Development Committee and the school鈥檚 Senior Leadership Team.

Our role is to provide oversight of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 financial framework while balancing the needs of students, parents, faculty and staff. Maintaining this balance requires careful stewardship and thoughtful consideration of the needs of our community. Key areas where we seek this balance are:

  • Capital Investment: Allocating resources to maintain and enhance campus facilities in alignment with 蜜桃视频鈥檚 long-term strategic vision.
  • Operational Planning: Ensuring both short- and long-term funding is secured for the diverse programming that defines the 蜜桃视频 student experience.

I am pleased to report that 蜜桃视频 continues to maintain a strong financial position. This strength reflects the school鈥檚 disciplined approach to financial management and the continued stewardship of its leadership and governance teams.

The Forum for Change and the Power of Global Connection

Fatima Kaba, Interim Director of the Forum for Change

One of the core goals of the Forum for Change is simple yet powerful: to help students see the world and connect meaningfully with the people in it. They learn that global travel isn鈥檛 just about stamps in a passport: it鈥檚 about perspective; it鈥檚 about listening deeply, building empathy and recognizing that leadership grows stronger when shaped by diverse voices and experiences.

As a proud school, we are part of a global network of schools that value experiential learning and building bridges across cultures. Round Square believes that some of life鈥檚 most important lessons happen beyond the classroom 鈥 when students collaborate, reflect and engage with real-world challenges alongside peers from around the globe.

This year, I travelled with eight 蜜桃视频 students to Dubai for the Round Square International Conference. It was an incredible experience to witness nearly 1,000 students from different cultures and communities come together with openness and curiosity. Our host schools shared powerful examples of their service learning initiatives and how they intentionally cultivate empathy through meaningful, sustained engagement in their communities. It was inspiring to see how young people across continents are stepping into leadership with compassion and purpose.

Part of our adventure was a pre-conference to Oman. There, students experienced firsthand how the country鈥檚 religious and cultural values are woven into daily life. We heard the call to prayer echo throughout the day, learned about local customs and approached each activity with humility and appreciation. It was a powerful reminder that global citizenship begins with respect.

We鈥檙e already looking ahead to the 2026鈥27 school year experiential opportunities with excitement! The next Round Square International Conference will be held in Sydney, Australia. Planning is well underway to create moments of joy, laughter and deep learning during an exciting pre-conference 鈥 and, of course, to enter the conference in Sydney with pride, representing our school and the Forum for Change on the global stage once again.

Unlocking the HOGA Advantage

Melissa Meevis, Alumni Engagement Officer

Graduation at 蜜桃视频 is more than a ceremony; it is an official onboarding into the 蜜桃视频 Old Girls Association (HOGA). A key part of our strategy is ensuring students experience the tangible benefits of this network before they walk across the stage. We focus on bridging the gap between being a student and becoming a connected Old Girl/Alum through high-impact, peer-to-peer mentorship.

The HOGA University Transitions Luncheon serves as a cornerstone of this experience. We bring young Old Girls/Alums currently at university back to campus to offer real talk insights into the schools our Grade 12s are heading to this fall. These near-peer mentors provide the practical advice students need to navigate campus cultures and manage the academic leap. This support continues after graduation through our Regional University Socials, when HOGA representatives travel to major university towns to host informal meetups, ensuring our youngest alums feel supported and connected as they transition into their next chapter.

To maximize this network, we invite all graduating students to join the . This is the one-stop shop for Old Girls/Alums to message 蜜桃视频 Grads at specific universities or in global cities for advice and local insights. To ensure our newest members stay informed, students must provide a permanent forwarding email address before they depart. This ensures they receive invitations to regional events and their annual copy of , our Old Girl/Alum magazine.

We look forward to officially welcoming the Class of 2026 into the HOGA family this spring.

Behind the Ivy

蜜桃视频’s Student-Run Newspaper

As Editor-in-Chief of this year, Maryam Khan works with a driven team of students to put together editions of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 student-run newspaper.

Behind the Ivy features articles on school events, student life, trends, culture, global news and more. It aims to give readers more insight into what happens behind and beyond the ivy walls.

Maryam is incredibly excited to lead Behind the Ivy this year and is proud of everything the team has already accomplished. So far in 2025-26, the team has successfully published two editions, each filled with thoughtful content that reflects student perspectives and the creativity of the 蜜桃视频 community.

Looking ahead, the third edition will be released in early May and will be especially exciting as it will be available both in print and online. Readers are encouraged to stay tuned for its launch. In the meantime, they can read the latest edition of and explore the past issues, too.

Expanding Horizons and Resilience Through The Exchange Program

Courtney Pickering, Manager, Learning Experiences 鈥 Forum for Change

蜜桃视频鈥檚 Exchange Program is a cornerstone of the Forum for Change. Built on long-standing, intentional partnerships, this program offers students in Grades 8 and 10 the unique opportunity of experiential learning and personal growth. By living and studying abroad 鈥 and hosting a visiting student in return 鈥 participants immerse themselves in new perspectives.

Throughout the journey, students work toward key developmental goals: advocacy, time management, relationship building and cultural curiosity. The result is a cohort of students who return with heightened resiliency, global capability and a deeper sense of self-awareness.

Here are some reflections from students who recently participated in the Exchange Program:

  • “Being immersed in a new culture 鈥 especially one where they speak a different language 鈥 and living with a new family for a month taught me so much about myself, but most importantly how exciting it is to make a new friend who you never would have met before. I learned how easily I was able to adapt and go with the flow and how I really like to travel and live in a new culture that I wouldn鈥檛 have been exposed to otherwise. Overall, Grade 10 Exchange really opened my eyes to how important it is to be a global citizen.”
Ella A., Grade 10 Aix en Provence Exchange
  • 鈥淟iving with a host family, experiencing daily life in French and stepping into new routines forced me to slow down and observe the world around me. I began to change. When you鈥檝e lived in one place your whole life, it鈥檚 easy to believe there鈥檚 only one version of you that exists. Exchange challenged that. It showed me that identity isn鈥檛 fixed to a single place or culture. Being immersed in a different way of living made me reflect on my own: what I valued, what I wanted to change and who I wanted to become.鈥
Jainy S., Grade 10 Paris Exchange聽
  • 鈥淏efore going on Exchange, I was constantly worried about how other people perceived me and I was terrified I would fail, which prevented me from trying lots of things. However, Exchange really helped me shift that perspective because it put me in a position where I was just trying to learn and experience as much as I could. This mindset pushed me to talk to people I probably wouldn鈥檛 have talked to before, and these people are still friends I talk to now. This newfound confidence helped me so much once I got back to Toronto because it engrained in me the new motto to not be afraid of rejection and to talk to more people, because you never know who you might connect with and who might want to be your friend until you start talking to them.鈥澛
Jessie G., Grade 8 London Exchange

Although applications for the 2026鈥27 Exchange Program are now closed, interested students (entering Grades 8 and 10 in the 2027鈥28 school year) are encouraged to apply in winter 2027. The process includes a family information session, a written application and an interview. Keep a close eye on school communications for details regarding the 2027鈥28 Exchange Program.

Headshot of Mr. Brown

Ryan Brown

Upper School Faculty

Mr. Brown brings enthusiasm and positivity to his Social Sciences classes in both the Middle and Senior Schools. His involvement in diverse subjects such as history, geography and world religions allows him to explore his passion for teaching about diverse cultures and peoples while also fostering empathy, understanding and global citizenship in his students. Mr. Brown also takes pride in his athletic involvements at 蜜桃视频, having coached successful soccer, hockey and touch rugby teams.

Before joining 蜜桃视频, Mr. Brown began his career overseas, most recently spending five years teaching at an Ontario-curriculum international school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition to the professional development gained through teaching in a variety of international contexts, his time living abroad also provided him with a wealth of experiences that still inform his approach to teaching about the world today.

This year, Mr. Brown is thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in two international trips at 蜜桃视频. From March 25 to 28, Mr. Brown and two colleagues led a senior history trip to Washington DC, visiting numerous sites of interest. In June of this year, he will be accompanying students on a two-week trip to South Africa, organized through the Forum for Change. This trip will engage students in exciting safari experiences, service learning opportunities, as well as immersive education about the history, legacy and ongoing impacts of apartheid.

An avid traveller in his personal life, Mr. Brown is looking forward to further opportunities to join 蜜桃视频 students on excursions near and far in the future.

Inside 蜜桃视频

headshot of Maggie Houston-White

Message from the Executive Director of Strategic Enrolment

Maggie Houston-White
The Arts as a Difference Maker

Being able to introduce 蜜桃视频 to families is such a privilege; we know our grounds and buildings are beautiful, but it is the magic behind the ivy that families connect with. Touring students and seeing their reaction to the Arts at 蜜桃视频 emphasizes the importance of opportunities for students to have creative outlets, be able to explore new ways of expressing themselves and share their talents.

From the beautiful beaded moccasins in the Junior School, the dress designs in the Tanya Taylor Fashion Lab, the joy of voices singing together in the Upper School vocal room to the sound of students practising their instruments, our applicants are both in awe and inspired to challenge themselves and try new things when they see the possibilities the Arts at 蜜桃视频 offers.

As we follow students through their journey at 蜜桃视频, we often beam with pride in the audience as we hear a student sing in Prayers who talked about dreaming of being a singer in her interview, or we see the student who spoke about working on her confidence now standing on stage, having taken a role in a school production. The research that guides our programming is clear: the Arts play a vital role in the development of children and young adults, cognitively, physically and socio-emotionally. What cannot be captured in the research, however, is the joy and pride we see on students’ faces when they see their art on display, hear the applause of the audience or catch the eye of their parents in the audience, knowing their talents and hard work bring joy to others.

Ultimately, the Arts at 蜜桃视频 serve as the bridge between academic excellence and personal discovery. These creative outlets ensure our students are not just well-educated, but well-rounded, empathetic and vibrant individuals. We don鈥檛 just teach the Arts to create artists; we teach the Arts to create humans who are capable of seeing the beauty in possibility.

This Month

Senior School students working on art.

The Heart of Art and Design

Kasia Ulbin, Head of US Art and Design, and Matthew Varey, Director of Arts

Where ideas take flight, risks are celebrated and creativity drives everything with students at the center of it all; that鈥檚 the heart of Art and Design at 蜜桃视频. We strive to create a space where students feel empowered, valued and heard, utilizing flexible studios that nurture the artist, not just the work. These rooms transform from print labs to photography suites, film sets or collaborative critique circles, allowing students to choose how and where they work as they build agency and shape their own practice, both individually and collectively.

The Upper School Art Department offers a rich curriculum, from photography to drawing and painting, printmaking, 3D sculpture and textiles. Here, students explore a plethora of materials and conceptual approaches to learn how to think, experiment and communicate.

A highlight of this evolution is the new Tanya Taylor Fashion Lab. As part of our Art and Design department, these Grade 11 and 12 courses provide access to the technical and conceptual world of couture, blending a professional approach to design and entrepreneurship with dynamic personal expression. They are hands-on experiences that facilitate problem solving and the creative process, allowing students to dream globally and think in three dimensions.

By referencing diverse artists with a focus on Contemporary Canadian, Indigenous and 2SLGBTQI+ voices, Art and Design teachers provide varied perspectives that help students explore their own identities and values in a supportive environment.

We value process over product. Our assessments encourage reflection through critiques, iteration via feedback and thoughtful risk-taking by inspiring new possibilities. Hands-on making and participating in national and international contests build resilience, while exhibiting in professional galleries allows students to see themselves as artists in the real world. At 蜜桃视频, students aren鈥檛 just creating art, they are developing as thoughtful, curious and courageous human beings, prepared to bring their vision and confidence into any path they choose.

Connecting through Culture: Integrated Arts in the Junior School

Rachel Read, Grade 5 and 6 Integrated Arts Teacher

At 蜜桃视频, we believe students thrive when they feel a sense of belonging 鈥 seen, safe and equipped with tools to explore the diversity within our community and beyond. Throughout the Junior School, students are empowered to express their emotions and identity through our vibrant arts programs.

One aspect of the 蜜桃视频 Arts Program is the Grade 5 and 6 Integrated Arts course. At the heart of this program is the understanding that all art flows from culture, which informs traditions of dance, drama, music and visual art, and provides the historical and personal context that enriches the creation and appreciation of art making. Within integrated arts, we have an opportunity to explore culture in more authentic and complex ways than we could within a single artistic discipline. Not only do we explore art traditions, but also history, storytelling and personal experience. This exploration is supported by our Artist in Residence program, where students work closely with experts who introduce cultural understandings alongside specific artistic expertise.

We’ve been fortunate to learn alongside Cree-M茅tis artist educator Marissa Magneson, who shares M茅tis culture, music and art-making; Dr. Kofi Gbolonyo, who introduces the culture, music and dance of Ghana; Olivia Wheeler, a theatre artist specializing in shadow puppetry who shares her family’s immigration stories; and Doug Goodkin, an Orff-Schulwerk educator who teaches jazz through storytelling and music. Through these learning experiences, students see themselves and their own culture and art-making traditions reflected in the classroom, which is especially powerful. These experiences not only build our artistic skills and cultural knowledge, but also provide us with the capacity to approach the world around us with an open heart and the drive to make a difference in the world.

Finding My Voice at 蜜桃视频 Through the Arts

Anaya Jazzar, Grade 12 Student

Theatre at 蜜桃视频 has meant more to me than I can possibly write. I鈥檝e loved every production I鈥檝e been in starting back in Grade 8 with the Middle School Musical Review. I played PT Barnum and, subsequently, was known as the magician kid for years. Sure, the title was silly, but it also became an easy way for me to connect with new people and break the ice. Acting forced me to put myself out there and taught me to own who I am unapologetically. Yes, that was me in a top hat and cloak, doing what I love.

The community I have found on the stage is like no other. After hours upon hours of rehearsal, the people in the cast and crew become more like a family. I am endlessly grateful for the sense of belonging I feel being surrounded by the friends that HC drama has given me. When I walk into the theatre, I know for a fact that I鈥檓 appreciated and welcome.

As I look back on my progress as an actor, I see the impact that every director and drama teacher has had on me. They all believed in me and gave me the opportunity to learn from my mistakes and develop my acting skills. Even when I doubted myself, they were always there to support and reassure me. Now, as I prepare to appear as Wadsworth in Clue, I am beyond honoured to have been trusted with such an important role. My 蜜桃视频 Arts journey has led me to this moment and I know the people along the way helped me build the confidence to challenge myself and believe that I can do great things.

Meet Our Faculty & Staff

Matthew Varey

Director of Arts

As the Director of Arts, Mr. Varey works with 蜜桃视频鈥檚 talented students and faculty in realizing exciting opportunities and programming, such as the Tanya Taylor Fashion Lab and Spring Music Night 2026 at Koerner Hall. He is responsible for understanding artistic global excellence and developing strategies for coaching people toward becoming powerful creative thinkers. Mr. Varey believes our engagement with the arts establishes facility with identifying and manipulating patterns and systems that contribute to a better world, in whatever area of human endeavour we choose to participate, and he鈥檚 excited to help build the structures to ensure that our individual and collective success is a reality.

As valuable life experience and a means to process complex systems, three very different creative practices contributed to Mr. Varey鈥檚 development as an educator and, eventually, Director of Arts at 蜜桃视频. As an artist himself, he has exhibited as a painter and photographer internationally for years in places like the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice and art fairs in North America and Europe. He has worked with corporate clients in developing their brands, as a copy writer and a trend forecaster. Mr. Varey has also won the Provincial Cycling Championships (breaking a Canadian cycling record!) and served as a coach for the Canadian Triathlon Team. Integrating these artistic, business and athletic experiences provided the insight he needed to build and contribute to the most successful high school art, photography and film programs in history over 19 years at Etobicoke School of the Arts, with more than $140 million dollars in initial scholarships offered to the Grade 12 graduates.

Mr. Varey is excited for future meaningful experiences with the wonderful students and faculty at 蜜桃视频. For more information about him as an artist and to see some of his images, he invites the 蜜桃视频 community to .

Message from Admissions

Maggie Houston-White, Executive Director of Strategic Enrolment Management, and Emily Simms-Brown, Director of Admission

As we gear up for 蜜桃视频鈥檚 beloved Spirit Week, the halls are buzzing with students coming together as a whole grade to plan their cheers, which will show their spirit as they represent their cohort at the activities planned by the student leaders. This week is deliberately set in February, when the bright sunny days of spring can feel a bit of a long way off. Spirit Week is a great way for our students to come together as a community, demonstrate their House and school spirit and support all of our wellbeing with some fun.

As you will read in this edition of 蜜桃视频 Highlights, our students are always challenging themselves 鈥 in the classroom, on the stage, on the ice or on the playing field 鈥 and developing real world skills that will prepare them for life beyond the ivy. They work hard and, as you will no doubt see on our social media in the coming weeks, they know how to play hard, too.

We are also aware of the excitement that is building for families as Offer Day draws near. All families will be hearing from 蜜桃视频 on Friday, February 20 and acceptances are due back on Wednesday, February 25. We appreciate all of the time and effort our applicant families have put into this process. The caliber of candidates and their families have been outstanding. We know the future is a bright one.

Sincerely,

Maggie & Emily

Message from the Dean of Academics

Lam Nguyen

At 蜜桃视频, being 鈥渇uture ready鈥 is more than a strategic pillar; it is a commitment to ensuring that our students will meet an ever-changing world with the confidence and skills needed to thrive. As we navigate the arrival of Generative AI, it has become increasingly important to lean into human values and a foundation that enables students to learn new skills for many possible futures.

Being in my first year at 蜜桃视频, I have made it a point to visit classrooms from JK to Grade 12, and I am continually inspired by what I have seen. Students are active participants in their learning; they are curious, ask questions and strive to understand concepts deeply. Teachers work diligently to ensure that each student is seen and can be her best self within a collaborative learning community.

In these classroom environments, students develop the future-ready skills that will empower them on their lifelong learning journey. Whether they are exploring the moon鈥檚 surface through a lunar mission in Grade 6 or having a deep Harkness-method discussion in the Upper School, students are consistently expected to think critically, test their ideas and receive feedback that deepens their understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

At 蜜桃视频, being adaptable to tomorrow’s emerging needs is more than just covering content. Teachers work to design classroom experiences that centre the essential learning of different disciplines. The essence of mathematics is not only about solving equations; it is about the logic that bridges our intuitions to universal truth. Languages are not only about syntax and grammar; they are about how we communicate complex ideas.

Through the development of future-ready skills like collaboration, critical thinking and adaptability, and a focus on essential learning, students are well prepared for a life of contribution and purpose. A resilient graduate is A Difference Maker who views uncertainty as an invitation. She leaves 蜜桃视频 not just ready to enter the world, but ready to shape it.

Nurturing Emotional Intelligence: The Journey with RULER

Kate White, Head of Junior School

As the 蜜桃视频 Junior School enters its third year of implementing RULER 鈥 a systemic approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence 鈥 it is essential to recognize that this work is about more than just 鈥渇eelings;鈥 it is a strategic foundation to lead a life of purpose and the drive to make a difference.

The implementation process began by prioritizing the faculty, dedicating the first year to adult development so teachers could model these skills. Over the past two years, our focus has shifted to the students. Each homeroom class has worked with their teachers to develop a Class Charter, which acts to build and sustain a positive emotional climate by creating agreed-upon norms for how people want to feel and how they can help each other to experience those feelings. Secondly, they have all been learning about the Mood Meter, which is a tool that aims to increase students鈥 self- and social awareness and supports the development of a nuanced emotion vocabulary and a range of strategies for regulating emotion.

Moving forward, we will be introducing the Meta-Moment, a process that helps students pause in moments of challenge and then imagine what their 鈥渂est self鈥 could do to solve the problem or to help improve the situation. In addition, we will be holding a series of parent workshops to help educate families on the RULER approach, and to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

As 蜜桃视频 continues to weave social and emotional learning into the culture of the Junior School, this next phase marks an exciting evolution. By aligning our strategies across the classroom and the living room, we aspire to foster an environment where students feel understood, validated and capable. This collective commitment to emotional intelligence paves the way for our learners to develop the lifelong skills required to understand themselves, connect with others and thrive in a complex world.

Ready, Set, Hire!

Anne-Marie Miki, Guidance Counsellor

The Guidance Department and Human Resources have teamed up for a second year to present a series of workshops and one-on-one sessions to help Grade 12 students prepare to enter the workforce. These Ready, Set, Hire workshops include tips on how to write a strong resume, suggestions to help perform well on interviews and advice on the job search. Additionally, students have unique access to our Human Resources team, where they can book one-on-one meetings to have their resumes reviewed by professionals.

Our first successful session on interview skills took place in the fall and in January we offered a presentation by HR to all Grade 12 students on the application and job search. 蜜桃视频 will offer additional consultations this spring, open to both Grade 11 and 12 students.

鈥淲e enjoyed sharing our career skills knowledge with the Grade 12 students,鈥 said Ms. Stephanie Houghton, Human Resources Manager. 鈥淲e hope the tips and suggestions help them feel more confident in their job searches both now and in the future.鈥 Adding to this, Human Resources Business Partner Ms. Marie Limbo explains how the program is meant to build confidence, strengthen resumes and get students interview-ready for future employment.

Ready, Set, Hire will be expanding into younger grades, offering additional sessions during morning programming time. This will include speaking to Grade 10 students about finding volunteer opportunities and getting Grade 11 students started with resume writing and interview success.

This program has already been well-received by students. Our School Captain, Naomi McDonald, shared this feedback: 鈥淎fter meeting with Ms. Houghton, my resume writing skills have drastically improved. Hearing from a professional who has gone through hundreds of resumes throughout her career was a truly invaluable experience. Her guidance strengthened my resume and left me feeling more confident and future ready.鈥

Reconnecting IRL: A Review of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Digital Device Policy

Charlee Chilelli, Grade 12 Student

I never realized how often I reached for my phone until I was told I couldn鈥檛. Even when I was sitting next to my friends, we rarely took the time to truly talk to each other. Instead, we would sit together in silence, each of us scrolling on our phones, sharing space but not conversation. What felt like a harmless habit slowly became the norm and without realizing it our phones were replacing meaningful connection.

When 蜜桃视频 introduced its new digital device policy, stepping away from my phone initially felt uncomfortable. My phone had become a safe space 鈥 something familiar to turn to in awkward moments or when I didn鈥檛 know what to say. However, without that immediate escape, I began to notice the people around me more. Conversations felt more natural, laughter came more easily and connections that once felt forced began to grow. The policy created space for real interaction, encouraging us to engage with one another rather than retreat behind screens. By removing a constant distraction, 蜜桃视频 allowed students to rebuild meaningful relationships and rediscover the value of genuine, face-to-face connection.

Message from the Board of Governors

Jill Fraser, Chair of the Board

New Year’s greetings from the Board of Governors. We extend our warmest wishes for a happy and healthy 2026.

As we begin the winter season, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the vibrant and productive school year we have shared so far. Our journey began with a successful Celebration Day and Reunion Weekend, where our community truly came together in the spirit of connection. A standout highlight was the inaugural Friday Night Lights soccer match; it was a joy to see our team compete against Branksome Hall and win the first-ever 鈥淔NL鈥 cup! The energy of these events were bolstered by incredible participation, with more than 95 per cent of students in Grades 5 to 12 attending the Opening Ceremonies and a record-breaking 104 parent volunteers lending their support. We also welcomed an astounding 900 attendees to our various Reunion Weekend events, with more than 500 Old Girls/Alums joining the cocktail party alone, marking record participation and renewed community connections. These collective efforts not only fostered school pride, but also successfully raised meaningful funds for our Community Partners and the .

Our commitment to nurturing the full potential of our students has remained a priority through initiatives like Thrive Days, which promote mental health awareness and equip students with practical wellbeing strategies. In the Junior School, leadership remains a central theme: Grade 4 students are exploring how our school values define leadership, while Grade 5 and 6 students are learning and deepening their understanding of the HC Leadership Attributes through direct experience and reinforcement. Meanwhile, Middle School programming has focused on the importance of healthy friendships and effective study habits. In the Senior School, students have been actively engaged in workshops on allyship and advocacy, with student leadership efforts emphasizing the value of peer mentorship.

In athletics, the Junior School saw 248 players on teams, and at the U12 level, we have consistently been among the largest participants in Junior School Athletics across the CISAA. We also had 234 out of 300 students sign up for at least one club in the fall term, reflecting an exceptional level of engagement. In Upper School athletics, 蜜桃视频 co-hosted and won the first official U13 CAIS National Basketball tournament, welcoming 12 teams from across the country. The winter season has been high-energy, with 25 active teams across nine sports. In Upper School Arts, the Drama Department delivered four performances of the Middle School play, Sense and Sensibility. We concluded 2025 with our cherished holiday traditions, including the time-honoured Upper School Carol Service and the Grade 1 to 6 Christmas Concert at St. Paul鈥檚 Bloor Street. Complemented by the delightful JK/SK holiday performance at the Junior School, these events provided a festive and reflective conclusion to the year. We are incredibly proud of everything our students, staff, faculty and families have accomplished thus far and look forward to a rewarding year ahead.

While we have already celebrated many successes this year, I am excited for the opportunities that still lie before us. Seeing our values of Integrity, Inquiry, Compassion and Courage woven into the fabric of our daily life is a wonderful reminder of what makes our community special. I am deeply grateful for your dedication and look forward to our continued journey together this year.

Thank you,

Jill Fraser

Nurturing Emotional Intelligence: The Journey with RULER

Kate White, Head of Junior School

As the 蜜桃视频 Junior School enters its third year of implementing 鈥 a systemic approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence 鈥 it is essential to recognize that this work is about more than just “feelings;” it is a strategic foundation to lead a life of purpose and the drive to make a difference.

Moving forward, we will be introducing the Meta-Moment, a process that helps students pause in moments of challenge and then imagine what their “best self” could do to solve the problem or to help improve the situation.

HCPA General Meetings

Wednesday, February 25

The next HCPA General Meeting 鈥 open to all parents 鈥 takes place on Wednesday, February 25, from 8:45 to 10:45 am in the JS Dining Room. These meetings bring parents together to stay informed, connect with one another and engage in meaningful conversations about student wellbeing. At our February meeting, we are pleased to welcome Caitlin Parsons, 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Registered Social Worker, as our guest speaker to talk to us about perfectionism.

Many high-achieving girls struggle quietly with perfectionism, which can feel like a constant pressure to succeed while fearing mistakes and tying their self-worth to grades, performance or social approval. In this parent presentation, Ms. Parsons will explore why perfectionism is on the rise among adolescent girls, how it shows up in high school (academically, socially and emotionally) and the impact it can have on mental health and wellbeing. Parents will leave with practical strategies to support healthy motivation, resilience and self-compassion in their daughters.

For families new to 蜜桃视频, HCPA meetings offer a welcoming way to learn more about school programs while building connections within our parent community.

Message from the Upper School Athletics Director

Ms. Carla Di Filippo

The fall season kicked off with incredible excitement as we hosted our very first Friday Night Lights! Few things compare to the energy of 蜜桃视频 spirit on display at our sporting events. Under the bright lights of Ratcliffe Field, a sea of green and gold filled the sidelines, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Our U20 Soccer Team鈥檚 victory 鈥 and the capture of the Friday Night Light Cup 鈥 was the perfect way to cap off the night. This senior team went on to win the National CAIS Soccer tournament and are the Division 1 CISAA champs. An exceptional team, indeed.

This fall, 蜜桃视频 athletes showcased their passion across every arena 鈥 racing through the pool; battling on the court; competing on the field in field hockey flag football and soccer; running the trails; and mastering the greens in disc golf. The joy of competition and the support teammates showed one another were on full display. 蜜桃视频 truly is a special place to compete.

Congratulations to our U13 Basketball and U15 Soccer Teams on their undefeated seasons and CISAA Championship titles! A huge shoutout as well to our U14 Cross Country Team, who are back-to-back CISAA Champions. We are so proud of all of our athletes and teams who represented 蜜桃视频 this fall!

Thank you to our 2025鈥26 Sports Prefects 鈥 Emma and Izzy 鈥 along with the Sports Council, for getting the athletics season off to such a great start! From the Middle School Gator Games to Friday Night Lights and the Fall Athletics Assembly, you鈥檝e shown true Gator spirit every step of the way. Thank you for your leadership and enthusiasm!

On Thursday, November 13, we celebrated the accomplishment of our fall athletics season at the awards assembly. It was here that each team announced their MVP and Coaches Award for the term. Message from the Junior School Athletic Director: A Season of Excellence

Ms. Anna Bartlett

This fall delivered exceptional weather and outstanding athletic performances. Our students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and commitment, showcasing both the breadth and depth of our athletics program 鈥 from squads to competitive teams. These quality programs continue to build the confidence and skills our students need for lifelong success.

Cross Country Championship Glory

More than 125 runners competed across our U9 and U12 Cross Country Teams this season. Our U9 Team hosted an inspiring, fun run that drew 350 participants across our stunning 22-acre campus.

The highlight of the season? Our U12 Cross Country Team captured the Overall Cross Country Championship 鈥 a tremendous achievement! Special recognition goes to our Grade 6 team, which placed an impressive seven athletes in the top 12 finishers.

Congratulations to our top 12 finishers (out of more than 150 runners!): Sophie Polsinello, Sienna Manias, Halle Lamb, Camille Rizvi, Charlotte Goldthorpe, Brooke Brasseur, Ayla Coull, Emily Ke and Sydney Mullen.

Making Waves in Swimming

Our swimmers dove into competition with determination, narrowly missing the Bishop’s Cup Championship. Every participant gained valuable race experience, including diving off blocks and competing in a high-energy meet environment.

Building Skills on the Basketball Courts

Five basketball teams spanning Grades 4 to 6 developed their skills and teamwork throughout the season. Our U10 Teams celebrated first-time layups in game situations, while U12 Teams refined their rebounding and defensive strategies. The progress has been remarkable.

Dynamic Play on the Soccer Fields

Our U9 Soccer/Basketball Team embraced new skills with enthusiasm, while the U10 Team brought infectious energy to every match with spirited cheers and creative plays. Both U12 Teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and scoring opportunities throughout the season and at the final tournament.

Looking Ahead

I am incredibly proud of every athlete’s dedication and honoured to work alongside coaches who are deeply invested in our students’ growth and development.

The excitement continues into the winter season with athletes on our Volleyball, Badminton, Multisport Swim and Hockey Teams who are ready to take the ice, courts and pool!

A Message from the Student Editor

Catherine T.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the fall 2025 Gator Zone newsletter! My name is Catherine and it is my pleasure to be this year’s Student Editor!聽

Throughout my five years at 蜜桃视频, sports have been a crucial part of my experience. I am so excited that I can focus my passion for sports and athletics through these newsletters in my senior year. The fall 2025 season showed the skill and power of 蜜桃视频 Athletics, with our first-ever Friday Night Lights, in partnership with Branksome Hall, being a kicking success. The Senior Soccer Team bringing home the win was electric, and everyone coming out in green and gold really made the atmosphere even better.

I want to give a huge shout-out to the Sports Prefects, Izzy and Emma, who really do the utmost to keep up school spirit and participation in all things athletics. Gator Zone is meant to give an inside scoop into what the Gators are up to inside and outside of school athletics. We have some amazing athletes in our school whose accomplishments need to be acknowledged. I want to make a point of really getting to know the stories behind the 蜜桃视频 Gators, how they put the athlete in a student athlete and what their plans are for the future.

I am so proud to be a part of Gator Zone this year, and I want to give a huge thanks to Ms. Di Filippo, Ms. Bartlett, Ms. Pink and all our Gator Zone writers who report on the world of athletics and who participated in the Fall sports teams. You guys have done a great job and I am so excited for the winter edition to come out.

Message from the Sports Prefects

Izzy and Emma

The leaves may be falling, but our HC teams are rising in the ranks this year! Hey Gators, as we wrap up the fall athletic term, we want to recognize the incredible achievements our school has accomplished in just one season. The excitement our athletes brought to every practice and competition was unmatched, and the energy from our supporters made every moment even more special.

A huge highlight of this term was the inaugural Friday Night Lights, an incredible event that showcased our talented athletes and shone a well-deserved spotlight on women in sport. The energy on campus was electric as the community came together under the lights, filling the stands and cheering on the Gators. It was a massive success, and we can鈥檛 wait to see this new tradition grow. This year, we also brought back Athlete of the Week, nominated by teammates from Grades 7 to 12. It has been a total success, strengthening our sense of community and giving well-earned recognition to athletes who inspire those around them. To keep everyone in the loop, weekly game schedules are posted every Monday on our Instagram account, leading to bigger crowds, louder cheers and even more Gator pride at our home games.

Many teams went above and beyond this season. Congratulations to the U20 Soccer Team, who were crowned CAIS National Champions and CISAA Champions this fall, and to the U14 Soccer Team, who placed third at CAIS. A special shoutout must go to our rowers. Our Women鈥檚 U17 4 trained intensely, six days a week, and earned a silver medal at Head of the Trent before taking on the world鈥檚 largest regatta, the Head of the Charles in Boston. Despite being one of the youngest crews in an 86-boat field, they powered to an incredible 26th-place finish, requalifying 蜜桃视频 for next year and making us all extremely proud.

This fall also marked the start of House Intramurals, where all 10 Houses faced off in volleyball. The friendly competition was filled with spirit, teamwork and so much joy as students came out ready to represent their Houses with pride. The energy in the gym was contagious, and it was amazing to see such strong participation across all grades.

Finally, we want to congratulate and thank every athlete who tried out for or participated in a fall sports team. Being on a 蜜桃视频 team is an experience like no other: the friendships, memories and connections you build truly last a lifetime. Let鈥檚 carry this momentum and spirit into the winter season. We still have two exciting terms ahead, and we know you will continue to amaze us with your dedication, skill and Gator pride.

Go Gators!

Your Sports Prefects,

Izzy and Emma

The Success of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 First Friday Night Lights Event

Audrea Au-Provonost

This year, 蜜桃视频 partnered with Branksome Hall to host its first ever Friday Night Lights, also known as FNL. This year, Friday Night Lights featured an intense varsity soccer game between the 蜜桃视频 Gators and the Branksome Highlanders. There was much anticipation for the game between the announcements in Prayers and posts on Instagram and everyone was ready to cheer on our U20 Soccer Team.

From the first whistle, our Gators proved they were ready to make history. Meredith Howard scored within the first 11 minutes, igniting the crowd in a deafening roar. The 蜜桃视频 fans were ready to show their pride and came decked out in green and gold, screaming their hearts out. The 蜜桃视频 Soccer Team was a dominating presence and finished with an impressive score of 10 to 0. FNL also featured an outstanding halftime show, which featured our 蜜桃视频 cheerleaders performing an exciting dance that kept everyone captivated.

This event also marked a milestone in female athletics as it is the first Friday Night Lights highlighting female sports teams. Seeing two different communities come out to support female athletes was both powerful and inspiring.

The bright lights beaming onto the field, the echoes of the crowd and pride in our community created a memory that will be remembered for years to come as the first FNL event 蜜桃视频 hosted. The future of female athletics is looking bright and the anticipation for next year’s Friday Night Lights has already begun.

Reflections from The Head of The Charles

Emma Hounsome

The Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, also known as the most prestigious regatta in the world, was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I had the privilege of rowing with four other incredible, hardworking young women who, despite our many challenges, continued to show up at 5:30 every morning with the collective understanding that we were going to push ourselves past our limits, no matter how difficult or impossible it may seem. When our crew came together, we rowed not only for ourselves but for each other, which is what made us unstoppable. These girls, who were once only my teammates, had become my family and had taught me the true meaning of what it means to show up for others. Rowing beside some of the best crews in the world, we were able to hold our own and prove to ourselves that, despite being a U17 boat in a U19 category, we could come 27th out of almost 90 boats. It was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. Crews from top D1 universities like Yale and Harvard were competing on the same river as us, sponsors and vendors filled the streets, and bridges had packed crowds shoulder-to-shoulder watching each crew row past. The atmosphere was incomparable to any other race any of us had ever rowed before. The Head of the Charles had marked the end of my first full year rowing at 蜜桃视频 and had helped me realize that rowing isn鈥檛 just a sport to me, it鈥檚 a way of life.

Vivian Johnston

The Head of the Charles Regatta, set in Boston, is pretty much the biggest rowing event in the world. It was also one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I had seen photos and videos before, but nothing prepared me for what it actually felt like to be there, with thousands of athletes everywhere, crowds lining the river, boats weaving through bridges, and this crazy mix of nerves and excitement in the air. Some practices felt impossible, the kind where every stroke hurt and the boat felt heavier than ever. But something always clicked when we rowed together. We weren鈥檛 just five people in a boat. We were a crew. My teammates went from being people I rowed with to being people I know I can always trust, laugh with and lean on. They taught me what it means to show up for others and to know what it鈥檚 like to be counted on. I was lucky to row with four other amazing ladies who worked harder than anyone I know, who showed up every day ready to push. Our two coaches were the same, right there beside us every single morning 鈥 no matter the weather 鈥 encouraging us, motivating us and refusing to let us give up on ourselves. Racing the Charles was absolutely unreal. We were one of the youngest crews in our division, racing a U-17 boat in the U-19 category. Instead of being intimidated, we proved we could keep up with and even beat some of the best juniors in North America. Crossing that finish line was the most exhilarating experience, and I鈥檓 so glad to have done it with these amazing people and for my school, 蜜桃视频.

蜜桃视频 students participating on the biathlon.

Grade 9 Biathlon

Radhika Goenka

The biathlon is a major component of the Grade 9 Physical Education course because it introduces us to the end-of-year triathlon and helps us understand how physical fitness skills like accuracy, coordination, focus and balance contribute to success and lifelong active living.

The biathlon is structured so that Grade 9 students first run a 400m course around Ratcliffe Field, then they get four attempts at one of the following stations: Nerf gun shooting, bean bag toss and frisbee disc throw. Each missed attempt adds a 50m penalty lap. Undertaking the biathlon is no small feat, challenging everyone to complete as many laps as possible while still staying accurate under pressure.

Though I enjoy playing various sports, by no means do I consider myself a runner. I was dreading the biathlon from the moment Ms. Lau introduced it. My only comfort was that we were all doing it together.

After several training days practising pacing and improving our skills, we each made progress. My biggest challenge (shockingly) was running. But race day came, and with it the support from my peers and the memory of all our preparation. I ran, each stride a fight, but pushed through and managed to complete eight laps within the time. I remember collapsing on the grass afterwards, exhausted but proud.

A unit like the biathlon teaches us how to persevere. It shows that with practice and support, we can overcome challenges and push beyond what we think we can do.

Success and Sportsmanship in Women鈥檚 Rugby

Isabel Snare

Women鈥檚 rugby has experienced a recent surge in popularity across the globe, with rates of attendance and viewership rising higher than ever for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. In fact, a study conducted by World Rugby finds that 49% of current women鈥檚 rugby fans started following the league within the past two years, a true testament to the impact of the increased media visibility they have received.

In particular, the Canadian women鈥檚 rugby team has seen massive growth in their fanbase, a response that is truly merited given their exceptional performance throughout the 2025 season. The team continuously made headlines as they carved their path to the final, remaining undefeated as they secured win after win. Despite losing 13 to 33 to England in the closing match, the silver medal awarded to the Canadian team yielded national glory and celebration.

While every try earned and match won is a triumph worth cheering for, perhaps most incredible of all is the sportsmanship displayed on the field. Every player demonstrates a clear sense of teamwork alongside respect for their fellow competitors. Across women鈥檚 rugby, the caliber of the competition has been proven to be just as uplifting as it is fierce.

At 蜜桃视频, our U14 and U20 Rugby Teams chase after wins (and the ball) with grit and grace. Through rainy practices and muddy matches, they are continuously inspired by the professional women in their sport, of whom the world has finally begun to recognize.

Staff Spotlight: Sophia Khikhlovskyy

Catherine Tassone

HC is so happy to welcome Sophia Khikhlovskyy to the Athletics Department, whose passion for sports goes above and beyond the classroom.

When asked what she likes most about HC so far, she said it’s the community. Specifically, its dedication and energy to athletics. 鈥淔rom innovative facilities to programs that challenge students to grow in skill, teamwork and resilience, HC provides every opportunity for student athletes to shine. As a teacher, it鈥檚 inspiring to watch and support students as they push their limits, celebrate their victories and build confidence both on and off the field.鈥 She shared that Hockey Day is the event she鈥檚 anticipating the most this winter, noting, 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to experience the energy 蜜桃视频 brings to its athletes.鈥

Ms. Khikhlovskyy鈥檚 favourite activities are playing pickleball and going for hikes, but her favourite sport to play and to coach is soccer. She is a big fan of the soccer player Tanya Boychuk, a proud Ukrainian-Canadian athlete who currently plays for the Montr茅al Roses. Before joining Montr茅al, Boychuk played college soccer at the University of Memphis, competed professionally in Iceland and, most recently, was called up to the Ukraine women鈥檚 national team. Aside from being known for her impressive celebration backflips on the field, Tanya Boychuk is a true inspiration. She is a role model for Ms. Khikhlovskyy, demonstrating how resilience, ambition and pride in your identity can make anything possible.

Inside 蜜桃视频

Headshot of Kate Crokam.

Message from the Executive Director of Advancement

Ms. Kate Crokam

I remember walking into Brenda Robson Hall and seeing students huddled over a project in the midst of debating ideas and encouraging one another. One student hesitated, unsure of her approach, and another leaned in and said, 鈥淭ry it, I think it could work!鈥 That moment of courage and collaboration didn鈥檛 happen in a vacuum. It happened because someone believed in these young women enough to make this space, provide these opportunities and support their growth.

Philanthropy at 蜜桃视频 is exactly that: creating the conditions for curiosity to flourish, for courage to take shape and for students to explore who they are and who they might become. Every gift and every act of support is a vote of trust in the next generation: a way of saying, “We see you. We believe in you. Go on, try.”

Contributions from parents, Old Girls/Alums, faculty and staff help create opportunities for exploration, mentorship and meaningful experiences that nurture confidence, spark curiosity and inspire bold thinking. These moments, made possible through generosity, allow students to take risks, discover new passions and grow into themselves.

Thank you for being part of this story. Your generosity isn鈥檛 just support; it鈥檚 a catalyst. It transforms experiences, nurtures growth and helps students believe in what they can achieve.

We are excited to introduce 蜜桃视频鈥檚 refreshed Annual Giving process. Annual giving is essential to delivering on an exceptional student experience, and donations to the 蜜桃视频 Fund go to support the priorities that immediately impact our girls鈥 experiences at school 鈥 things like equipment for STEM, arts and athletics, student financial support and programs and speakers for wellbeing and innovation.

Starting in 2026, families will be invited to support the 蜜桃视频 Fund during registration and re-registration, making it simpler than ever to participate. Every gift plays a vital role in enriching programs, supporting faculty excellence and creating opportunities for our students to grow, thrive and reach their potential. When families make 蜜桃视频 one of their top philanthropic priorities, our girls feel the impact of that support in their everyday experience.

If you haven鈥檛 made your 2025 gift to the 蜜桃视频 Fund, you can Gifts made before the end of the year may provide tax advantages while having an immediate impact.

Message from the Board of Governors

Michael Copeland, Chair of the Governance Committee

I have the pleasure of writing to the 蜜桃视频 community on behalf of the Governance Committee of the Board of Governors regarding the work that the Board of Governors undertakes.

The Board of Governors is entrusted with the overall stewardship of 蜜桃视频, a fiduciary responsibility that is centred on providing strategic oversight and ensuring operating integrity. This includes supporting the school鈥檚 long-term plan and strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with the College鈥檚 mission and values, and overseeing its financial health and risk management. A key responsibility is the appointment of the Principal, to whom the Board delegates the necessary authority for the day-to-day administration of the College and all operational matters, including curriculum development, staffing and student life.

To effectively discharge its duties, the Board maintains several essential standing committees. These include the Governance Committee, which focuses on the Board鈥檚 structure and effectiveness, including Board recruitment; the Financial Sustainability Committee, which ensures the school鈥檚 economic viability; the Property and Development Committee, which oversees the physical assets and campus master plan; and the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, which supports the College鈥檚 work of inclusion throughout the school community. Additionally, the Financial Sustainability Committee is supported by the Pension Sub-Committee. The strength of these committees lies in their diverse membership, which includes dedicated representation from the broader 蜜桃视频 community and external expertise, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives inform every Board decision.

The Board of Governors is deeply committed to 蜜桃视频’s mission. Our primary focus remains on ensuring the College鈥檚 long-term sustainability and success, providing a foundation for every student to reach their fullest potential. We remain dedicated to ensuring that the College is well-positioned for both today and into the future, always maintaining the high standards of excellence that define 蜜桃视频.

Game. Set. Growth.

蜜桃视频’s newly revitalized tennis courts, named in honour of Old Girls/Alums Sharen Ho (Class of 1993) and Mia Ho (Class of 2025), are already buzzing with energy as students and community members enjoy the upgraded space. Thanks to the generosity of the Ho family, the courts now feature improved surfaces, drainage and fencing. The surrounding spectator areas were also enhanced thanks to donor support, with new gardens and paving creating a welcoming space to watch, cheer and connect.

This fall, the courts hosted the second annual 蜜桃视频 Old Girls Association (HOGA) Pickleball Classic during Reunion Weekend, where Old Girls showcased their playful competitive spirit, reconnecting over laughter, cheers and friendly rivalry.

More than just a place to play, the courts and surrounding spaces are a hub for connection and curiosity. Students can test their skills, share a laugh or cheer on a peer, discovering new passions along the way.

Thanks to donor support, this is a place where ambition meets laughter, and the everyday sparks something unexpected.

Celebration Day Funds Raised

Maggie Houston-White, Executive Director of Strategic Enrolment Management

Ellen Knox鈥檚 timeless challenge 鈥 鈥淲hat will you do?鈥 鈥 lives at the heart of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 mission. Celebration Day, rooted in our historic Bazaar, gives students the chance to put that mission into action, making a difference through participation, teamwork and community spirit.

This year鈥檚 move to a Friday proved a success, with 95% of students joining from Opening Ceremonies to the final Tug of War. Together with faculty, staff, 105 parent volunteers and community members, their efforts raised $58,939 for our Community Partners, a 16% increase from last year!

Adding Friday Night Lights to the day brought even more excitement. Under glowing field lights, the 蜜桃视频 Gators faced off against the Branksome Highlanders in a fast-paced U20 soccer match, cheered on by students, parents and Old Girls/Alums showing their green and gold pride. A vibrant halftime show featuring students from Grades 7 to 12 kept the energy high.

A special thank you to current parent Corey Mandell, whose expertise and generosity made the night shine 鈥 literally. Mandell Entertainment Group provided the lighting and sound, and Corey himself brought the action to life as our announcer. Hearing their names called after scoring a goal was a moment our players won鈥檛 forget.

Events like these showcase the collective generosity of the 蜜桃视频 community, through time, talent and treasure. It鈥檚 what keeps us at the forefront of education and creates a place where belonging thrives and making a difference is simply part of who we are.

I couldn鈥檛 be more proud or grateful to be part of this extraordinary community.

For highlights of the events, .

The timing is perfect, near the close of another remarkable year, to reflect on what has been achieved and to support what comes next. Excellence Begins with Opportunity

Maggie Houston-White, Executive Director of Strategic Enrolment Management

At 蜜桃视频, we hold a profound belief: excellence begins with opportunity. This principle guides our commitment to ensuring a diverse and talented student body, a commitment made possible by the enduring generosity of our community.

Our Scholarship Program recognizes the remarkable applicants whose talents and values promise to enrich the 蜜桃视频 experience. For these students, a scholarship serves as a beacon, acknowledging their exceptional abilities and inviting them to share their gifts within our community. In September 2025, we were delighted to introduce new scholarships designed to attract exceptional students from Toronto and around the globe. The calibre of our applicants is exceptional and we know the new students who join in 2026 will be no different.

Equally vital is our Financial Support Program, which ensures financial circumstances never prevent a deserving girl from accessing a 蜜桃视频 education, or continuing her education at 蜜桃视频. Our Financial Support Program doesn鈥檛 just provide support for tuition, it also ensures students can benefit from experiencing the full breadth of the co-curricular opportunities our school offers.

This culture of giving is not new; it is the foundation upon which 蜜桃视频 was built. From our earliest days, the foresight and philanthropy of dedicated individuals have shaped our campus, programs and student support. Their generosity established the very tradition of excellence we enjoy today.

Thanks to the continuous support of current families, Old Girls/Alums and donors, this powerful legacy endures. Your commitment to philanthropy ensures that the door of opportunity remains wide open, continuing our tradition of attracting and nurturing the brightest minds for generations to come.

To contribute to scholarships and student financial support at 蜜桃视频, you can make your gift  or contact Kate Crokam, Executive Director, Advancement, to discuss how your support can make a real impact.

Faculty and Staff Gifting and Appreciation

Thank you to all HC families who have already contributed to the Staff & Faculty Appreciation initiative.

For families who may be new to 蜜桃视频, the HCPA organizes a one-time annual collection on behalf of all HC families to show our gratitude to 蜜桃视频鈥檚 remarkable and dedicated faculty and staff. These funds support both a holiday and year-end gift for every employee, replacing individual family gifting. A portion of the collection also helps fund staff appreciation events in both the Junior and Upper Schools at the end of May.

To support these gifts and events, we are asking families to contribute $75+ per child, though donations of any amount are appreciated. To participate (with 100% of contributions going directly toward faculty and staff appreciation), please send an e-transfer to hcpatreasurer@gmail.com by Monday, December 8. Remember to include your daughter鈥檚 name and grade in the message field.

If you鈥檙e unsure whether you鈥檝e already contributed, please email the HCPA Treasurer at hcpatreasurer@gmail.com.Thank you in advance for supporting these meaningful gestures of appreciation.

Grade 1 and Grade 5 Breakfasts 鈥 Thank You!

In November, Grade 1 and Grade 5 families came together in the Junior School Dining Hall for the Pyjama Jam Breakfast, a beloved HCPA tradition. The morning was filled with laughter, delicious food, dancing and fun games. Portrait drawing was a new activity at this year’s event, which quickly became a favourite for both parents and students. Guests were also delighted by a surprise visit from the school mascot, The Gator! Furthermore, event Chairs Terra Cheng and Aylin Elmaagacli put together a playful slideshow of baby photos, inviting students to guess which friends were in each picture.

We extend heartfelt thanks to Terra, Aylin, all the volunteers and every family who participated! Your support helped make these breakfasts memorable for everyone!

The Choir sings at Carol Service 2024.

Hope, Peace, Joy and Love Shine at 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Carol Service

The Reverend Jillian Ruch

If you have been present in the halls of 蜜桃视频 recently, you may have heard community members practising the singing of melodies for our annual Carol Service, which takes place this year at St. Paul鈥檚 Bloor Street on Wednesday, December 10 (7 pm). The Carol Service at 蜜桃视频 was established by former Head of Music teacher Elisabeth Muir (1941鈥2022), who worked at 蜜桃视频 for 33 years from 1968 to 2001. Although this event has been hosted at different locations since its inception, for the past 20 years the Upper School has gathered at St. Paul鈥檚 Bloor Street for this joyous evening. It is a favourite 蜜桃视频 tradition held close to the hearts for many in our community.

This service was derived from the traditional Anglican Service of Nine Lessons and Carols and is held during the Advent Season in most Anglican churches around the world.

The nine readings read at our service are from the Hebrew and the Christian scriptures, alternated with choral and congregational singing, to provide a series of reflections on the birth of Jesus Christ, whom Christians believe to be the salvation of humankind.

The readings begin with the creation story and the promise of God with His people, as told in the book Genesis. These are then followed by passages from the Hebrew Prophets, which Christians view as looking forward to the coming of God鈥檚 Messiah (or “Chosen One”). The final five lessons are from what Christians call the Gospels 鈥 or the 鈥淕ood News鈥 鈥 the first books of Christian Scripture, which tell the story of the life of Jesus.

The 蜜桃视频 Carol Service, although firmly rooted in our Anglican Tradition, is one that whatever faith you ascribe to, you can find the themes of Advent (Hope, Peace, Joy and Love) surrounding you in the sights and sounds of the service.

On December 10, there will be more than 1,600 people singing together, which may be a moment that brings attendees goosebumps, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journeys. This service also gives us a moment to pause in our busy world to appreciate our community, to appreciate when we can come together as one to laugh and sing, and to take a moment to pause to think about someone or something bigger than ourselves, especially at this time of year.

Hannah Crossgrove

Associate Director, Major Gifts

Hannah Crossgrove (Class of 2015) still remembers the first time she felt the magic of community at 蜜桃视频. As a Boarding student, she was surrounded by ambitious, inspiring young women who challenged and encouraged one another, many of whom remain her closest friends today. That sense of belonging and possibility sparked a lifelong passion for creating opportunities for others.

After studying Media, Information and Technoculture at Western University, Ms. Crossgrove built a career in philanthropy, supporting meaningful projects across healthcare and the arts. Today, as 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Associate Director, Major Gifts, she brings that experience back home, helping to shape experiences and programs that give current students the same confidence, curiosity and support she enjoyed. For Ms. Crossgrove, this chapter is about more than professional achievement. It is about nurturing the next generation of girls so they can discover their own potential and chart their own paths, just as she did.

Message from the Admissions Prefects

Elle and Audrea

It鈥檚 hard to capture just how much being the Admissions Prefects means to us in a short statement when there鈥檚 simply so much to love about this role. When we reflect on what stands out most, one thing always comes to mind: the community. Whether it鈥檚 the Prefect team supporting us at Admissions events, the incredible Old Girl/Alum network or meeting excited applicants and their families, every connection reminds us that we all share one thing in common: a genuine love for this remarkable school.聽

What makes the 蜜桃视频 community truly special goes far beyond Admissions events and school gatherings. It鈥檚 in the small, everyday moments; the smile you exchange with a fellow student in the grocery store, or when an Old Girl/Alum stops you on the street because they recognize the classic green and gold uniform. 蜜桃视频 is all around us and that constant sense of connection is what makes being Admissions Prefects so meaningful to us. Knowing that we help welcome new students into this incredible community that lasts forever fills us with pride and gratitude.聽

As seniors, we know 蜜桃视频 has prepared us not just to take our next steps, but also to thrive in the world beyond these walls. As leaders in this school, we have grown to be fearless and to believe that anything is possible. The thought of leaving what has become our second home is bittersweet, but we鈥檒l carry the memories, friendships and spirit of 蜜桃视频 with us for the rest of our lives, far beyond the ivy walls.聽

Message from the Deputy Principal

Ms. Lindsay Norberg

At 蜜桃视频, a central focus of education is preparing young women to make a difference in the world, guided by the school鈥檚 Portrait of a Grad: 蜜桃视频 Difference Maker. This goal is not just about academic success; it鈥檚 about developing students who understand themselves and others, are continually learning and growing, and are inspired to contribute positively.

Digital Citizenship at 蜜桃视频 is directly aligned with this mission. Fostering Digital Citizenship is about cultivating 鈥淒igital Wisdom鈥 to enable students to thrive ethically in a technology-dense world. The emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) continues to significantly transform many aspects of work, daily life and education. 蜜桃视频鈥檚 goal is to empower faculty and staff to have the agency and skills to engage with GAI technologies thoughtfully and responsibly.

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Grade 5 classes as they began their Digital Wisdom course. Students were hard at work designing apps, reflecting on their values and deciding what they would want the key design feature to be. The class had considered different technologies and how they had impacted societies, discussing fire as an example. They explored how fire shifted the way societies worked, how people had to learn to use it safely, how they could benefit from it and how to control it wisely. Drawing on Marc Prensky鈥檚 concept of 鈥渇ire wisdom,鈥 the students recognized the importance of using powerful tools responsibly. They quickly made the connection between this idea and the work they were doing to develop their own digital wisdom.

Our work on Digital Citizenship is aligned with our goals for HC students. This means helping students identify ways to anchor their decisions in their values, remaining curious and open in order to adapt to a changing world and being committed to pursuing real-world challenges and believing they can have a positive impact.

Building Digital Citizenship

Adam Caplan, HC-X Director

What does it mean to grow up in a world where our lives are increasingly shaped by algorithms, screens and digital identities?

In our Digital Wisdom (DW) course, students in Grades 5 to 8 have the opportunity to investigate this question through the lenses of their own values and perspectives.

For a girl in her early adolescent years, DW looks like investigating the motivations behind her favourite digital platforms and pastimes. DW sounds like explaining how her online behaviour meets Artificial-Intelligence-driven content algorithms to shape her thoughts, feelings and sense of reality. DW feels like developing skills to interpret how digital screentime shapes overall wellbeing.

This course equips girls to navigate that intersection of identity, relationships and technology at a crucial developmental age. That鈥檚 really key for them because their social worlds and sense of self are developing so much during these years.

Digital Wisdom 鈥 now in its sixth year 鈥 emerged from a big-picture vision of preparing students for a BANI world 鈥 one that is becoming increasingly Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear and Incomprehensible. Rather than focus solely on device rules or online safety, Digital Wisdom students develop the confidence, curiosity and integrity to identify important technology-mediated relationships in their lives and learn to align their actions with their values.

To support this learning, HC-X Educators and Digital Wisdom teachers use responsive approaches to treat emojis, brainrot, AI slop and 鈥6-7鈥 as stepping-off points to help students surface questions, interrogate their assumptions and explore the deeper connections between technology, identity, creativity and community.

The AP Capstone Program at 蜜桃视频

Lam Nguyen, Dean of Academics and Jennifer Goldberg, Director of Academics

Advanced Placement (AP) is an enriched program designed by the  and offered at schools around the world. 蜜桃视频 has long offered AP courses as a part of its robust academic program. AP courses enable students to learn university-level content in a supportive and relational high school environment.

The latest addition to the AP offerings at 蜜桃视频 is the AP Capstone program. This two-year diploma program complements the academic experience by building skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments and collaboration. These are essential skills for success in post-secondary education. The diploma requires two year-long courses, AP Seminar and AP Research, and at least four additional AP courses.

Led by a team of passionate and experienced educators as well as dedicated students, the AP Capstone Diploma has seen significant growth and success over the past five years since its inception in 2019, growing in enrolment each year. AP Research students work closely with both faculty advisors and professionals in the field to conduct studies in their areas of interest. Past research projects range from a scientific examination of cancer in plasma cells to a study on the impact of narratives and climate change. In 2025, 蜜桃视频 reached its highest enrolment in these courses with nearly half of the entire Grade 11 class having elected to take AP Seminar this school year. 蜜桃视频 students have consistently earned results that exceed both the provincial and global averages.

Celebration Day and Friday Night Lights

Thank You

Friday, September 26 was a memorable day as Celebration Day and Friday Night Lights united students, families, Old Girls/Alums, staff and faculty in a lively celebration of community spirit and embodiment of our mission. From games and tasty treats to inflatables, a bustling bazaar, a silent auction and live performances, the day was full of excitement.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the more than 104 parent volunteers who went above and beyond to bring these events to life! Whether you were prepping tickets, pricing and purchasing concession items, running the Preloved Uniform and Marketplace sales, managing the BBQ and drink lines, supporting registration, selling popcorn and candyfloss or simply bringing your enthusiasm and warmth, you played a crucial role in making the day unforgettable.

Your commitment, energy and presence were truly felt and appreciated by everyone involved. We couldn鈥檛 have done it without you!

With heartfelt thanks,

HC and the HCPA

Robotics Co-Heads posing with a robot

Learning, Leading and Collaborating Through Robotics

Cathy Zhang and Jessica Lee, 蜜桃视频 Robotics Team Co-Heads

蜜桃视频鈥檚 Robotics Club is a competitive and hands-on club where students get to be creative, innovative and learn how to design, code and build robots for VEX V5 competitions. Other than building robots, members also learn how to solve problems, think critically and work as a team.

This year we鈥檝e welcomed a lot of new members from Grades 9鈥12, many of whom had no experience with robotics. Whether students have built robots before or are just curious about coding and engineering, they all have the opportunity to participate, learn and compete with other teams. Twice a week, we meet to build and program robots, test our ideas and figure out solutions together. In these sessions, curiosity inspires new ideas and experimenting with them as a team produces a successful robot.

Throughout the year, our teams compete in a series of challenges that test robots in both autonomous and driver-controlled modes. These competitions push us to think on our feet, adapt quickly and work together under pressure. From these, we also socialize with other school teams and exchange new ideas that can be brought back to our robotics lab for future improvements.

This club also encourages women in STEM, since engineering and robotics are still male-dominated fields. Being part of this team helps build confidence, develop skills and take on leadership roles. By coding, designing and competing together, we鈥檙e proving that young women can innovate, lead and make a difference.
